Privacy note
How FarmTheory handles your details when you use “Email your MLA”.
What we collect
Your name, email address, town or postcode, constituency, the MLAs you choose, and your message. We also keep a scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address for a short time, to stop the form being misused.
Why, and on what basis
Only to send your message to the MLAs you choose, to send you the confirmation link and a receipt, and to stop misuse. Because your message shows your view on a political question, we rely on your explicit consent, which you give by ticking the box and confirming by email. We do not add you to any mailing list, and we never sell or share your details for any other purpose.
Who sees it
The MLAs you choose receive your message, name, town or postcode and email address, so they can reply to you. Once they have it, their offices handle it under the Assembly's own privacy rules. Our email and server providers handle it on our behalf to deliver it.
How long we keep it
If you never confirm, your details are deleted after 24 hours. If you do, we delete them 30 days after your message is sent. We keep only a count of how many messages each MLA received.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your details, or ask us to delete them sooner, by emailing carbon@farmtheory.co.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
